Sat June 28th!
By Matt | June 20, 2008
Attention everyone, FACKA would like to invite you to the 2008 JoAnn Garrett classic charity event on Sat June 28th. The event kicks off at noon in Baker park with an all-star kickball game between FACKA (Frederick adult co-ed kickball association) and KLOB (kickball league of baltimore) After FACKA’s pummeling of the Montgomery county league two years in a row, the Kickball League of Baltimore wants a shot at FACKA.
immediately Following the game is the biggest party/concert of the year which is open to the public and held at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater along carroll creek in downtown Frederick from 2-9. This years entertainment includes headliner act out of Florida, ‘Social Ghost’ who is an up and coming rock band who has opened up for acts including Shinedown, Staind, Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, Plain White T’s, Nonpoint, and Alice in Chains.
Opening acts are Frederick’s own ‘Lighting Rod’ and from Brooklyn NY, ‘Great Lakes’, There will be plenty of food and beer and a tons of items for bid in a silent auction including items like a autographed Cal Ripken Baseball, and tickets for an upcoming O’s/ Yanks game (behind home plate).
JoAnn Garrett is one of many thousands of people who lost their lives to cancer. In honor of them, ALL proceeds from this event will go to Frederick’s chapter of The American Cancer Society, and the Frederick Memorial Hospital’s ‘Cancer Patient Assistance Fund’.
The game is free to attend, Tickets to the concert are $10 in advance and are available at LaPaz, Guidos, Canal bar and Firestones through the 27th, or $15 at the door on the 28th, So do your part Frederick, Drink beer, have fun, and help find a cure.

Be sure to mark down June 28th on your calendar. This downtown Frederick event will be bigger and better then ever and best of all it’s all for charity! Be sure to download Social Ghost’s EP for free from their website! I saw these guys rock an acoustic set opening up for Alice In Chains last summer so I’m really looking forward to seeing them “plugged in” this time around. This show is open to the public so spread the word for a good cause, feel free to repost our flyer on myspace. I listed the code you’ll need to post below the image.

good stuff
By jmecler | June 19, 2008
Hello FACKA’s and friends,
A few things:
1. All star practice tonight at Ballenger Creek at 9pm. Any questions or if you can’t make it, contact Ben “G” Page on our top friends. He’s the coach! He is going to be gone a couple days too so you may want to talk amongst yourselves tonight and maybe get one or 2 more practices in. Just to gel with everyone and figure out who is going to play where and what.
2. Tickets are for sale NOW for the charity event. In case you didn’t know, we are playing KLOB(Kickball League of Baltimore) and then having an awesome concert afterwards. Pre-sale tickets are discounted to $10. They will be $15 at the door. You can purchase them at La Paz, Canal, Guidos, Firestones, through me, Matt or Ali and at all the games. Spread the word about the Joann Garrett Classic II!
3. Monday night, we are having make up games. The schedule is posted. Also, we will be having a volunteer meeting at La Paz, where they are having happy hour all night for us. So if you are playing, we’ll be there all night. Come sign up!! For the new people, you are in for a lot of fun. We appreciate you guys!
Any questions, comments, this or that, just hit me up. Come on out tonight and show some love to the Temple and Firestones who are playing at 8:30 in Ballenger.
Much love,
MecDaddy
